What's a day in the life of a sales engineer?

you get to create your own schedule, starting my days from home and going to customer site or job. independence is high but more responsibility comes with it. You get to provide custom solutions to your customers problems, once you position yourself as a partner and expert in the field, the sales cycle becomes much easier and less competitive.

What's the best part of being a sales engineer?

Being able to help solve customers problems with custom solutions and getting paid well for it.

What's the downside of being a sales engineer? Words of caution?

Structured training is limited, you need to be a self starter and self motivated and learn along the way.

Advice on how to get started as a sales engineer

fundamental sales experience through another competitive industry is helpful. i.e pay check services, copier/IT sales
